Summer Social Skills and Recreation

Camp

Bridging-Lives is offering summer social skills and recreation camp to assist elementary and secondary students with developmental disabilities.

Dates for elementary campers:
Week 1 June 9 - 13, 2008
Week 2 June 16 - 20, 2008

Dates for secondary campers:
Week 1
June 23 - 28, 2008
Week 2 July 14 - 19, 2008

Overnight and Day Campers will participate in Community outings, peer interaction, sporting activities and more.

The Network School Summer Camp 2008:  The Network School is a special needs school.  Each summer camp session will focus on fun and engaging activities centered around a summer theme.  Younger students will be exposed to art, music, and sensory skills while maintaining their cognitive interest.  Older students will work on cognitive and academic skills based on each child’s individual needs while enjoying a fun, social atmosphere that includes music, art and gross motor activities.  Music therapy will be offered weekly.  Camp sessions will be offered in both June and July (Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. depending on the session).  For more information, contact Melissa Larson at 713-523-0837 or Dr. Faiza Khoja at 832-693-5361.  Dr. Khoja can also address questions about financial assistance for the camp sessions.

July 13th - 18th, Camp LIFE Summer!:  Camp LIFE will offer a summer option for kids aged 5 – 12 years old.  The camp focuses on providing a recreational opportunity/environment for kids with disabilities and their siblings.  The camp will be held July 13 – 18 at Camp for All in Burton, TX.  Camp LIFE is sponsored by the Family Support Network and is a project of the Center on Disability and Development at Texas A&M University.  For more information or an application, contact Amy Sharp at sharp@tamu.edu or 979-845-4612.  Application deadline is June 20th.
